Walter de Gruyter
Deutsche Søren-Kierkegaard-Edition (DSKE)
Edited by Niels Jørgen Cappelørn, Hermann Deuser, Heinrich Anz and Heiko Schulz in cooperation with the Søren Kierkegaard Research Center, Copenhagen.
Within the Deutsche Søren Kierkegaard-Edition, the German translation and commentary of the Journals and Papers (Journale und Aufzeichnungen) will begin to appear in 2005. Up until now, only a selection of these - philologically often unreliably edited - texts have been available to German and English-speaking readers. The work is based on the new Danish edition Søren Kierkegaards Skrifter.
The Søren Kierkegaard Research Centre was established by the Danish National Research Foundation at the University of Copenhagen in September of 1993. The Centre is organizationally linked with the Institute for Systematic Theology of The Theological Faculty, and is located in the historical center of Copenhagen.
The Centre's interdisciplinary research activity consists of two main spheres. One of its focal points constitutes Kierkegaard research, which especially concentrates on philosophical and theological anthropology, ethics and hermeneutics; but the Centre also promotes research related to Kierkegaard's thought within fields such as epistemology, metaphysics, aesthetics and literary theory, as well as social, political and historical studies. The other focal point constitutes philological research with the objective of a new critical and annotated edition of everything written by Kierkegaard under the title Søren Kierkegaards Skrifter (SKS), which appears both in book and in electronic form; this edition is conceived of as the first unified edition of Kierkegaard's complete works and papers. On this basis a German critical edition of Søren Kierkegaard´s works will be published by Walter de Gruyter beginning with Kierkegaard's journals and papers.
In order to make the Centre's research activity familiar to other researchers - both the research that is related to the interpretation of Kierkegaard's texts (including the papers from the research seminars in Copenhagen) and the research that is related to the work on Søren Kierkegaards Skrifter - the Centre publishes through Verlag Walter de Gruyter both Kierkegaard Studies Yearbook (first volume: 1996), and Kierkegaard Studies Monograph Series.
