English Renaissance Texts - 4 volume set
edited by Marie Axton
A multidisciplinary set making available to libraries for the first time four texts that are invaluable for understanding early modern Britain. Each text has been edited from manuscript and is supported by very extensive, detailed, and authoritative scholarly apparatus including introductions, detailed footnotes, chronology, and bibliography. Each volume relates to current research concerns e.g. the nature of authorship, the status of women, the development of higher education. Each text is self-sufficient, but gains from juxtaposition with the other volumes in the series. Common themes include: rhetoric; learning; interpretation; and scholarship.
The four titles in the set are:
1. Elizabeth Cary (Lady Falkland), Life and letters (wd. Heather Wolfe), 2001
