ERL (Electronic Reference Library)

The Electronic Reference Library (ERL) Technology is SilverPlatter's solution for providing Wide Area Network (WAN) access to all SilverPlatter databases via TCP/IP

With ERL Technology you can create an electronic library that is:

Across your Institution and Across an entire Consortium

ERL technology enables the systems administrator to provide access to information throughout your institution, throughout your consortium and over the Internet. A single ERL system can support multiple databases collections, providing access to only to the appropriate authorized users. Those users are presented with a single list of available databases which may reside on multiple servers throughout an institution or consortium, or at another site all together - accessible via the Internet.

Easy Wide Area Network Solutions

With ERL Technology, loading and accessing information is simple. All of the data (delivered either on CD-ROM or tape) is pre-indexed and ready to search using all of the powerful search tools available with SPIRS software.

ERL's true client/server architecture provides wide area network access while taking advantage of your existing local area network, eliminating the need to purchase or maintain an expensive mainframe system. And with the Internet subscription option, you can easily provide fully-functional wide area searching of information without the need for additional hardware.
